GAMES AND PRACTICES

The Recreational season will begin the weekend of August 26th and will continue through October with the Smithfield Cup House Tournament on or about the last weekend of October.

All games are played on Saturdays and/or Sundays at Deerfield Park in Smithfield.  Games canceled due to weather will be made up based on the availability of fields and referees.

Practice days and times will begin around the first or second week of August.  All practices are scheduled by the individual Coaches.

Parents should be courteous and assist the coaches by having youngsters at practices and games on time.

Remember - all SYSA coaches are VOLUNTEERS.  They need the help and cooperation of all team parents to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all players.

EQUIPMENT

All players will be provided with a team shirt and socks.

This team uniform must be worn at all games.

SHIN GUARDS must be worn at all games and practices.

Outdoor soccer shoes are strongly recommended.  Sneakers are allowed but are not good traction in wet weather.  NO baseball or football cleats will be allowed.

A mouth guard is strongly suggested.  Knee pads are optional but suggested for the younger age groups.

Jewelry, bracelets, earrings or hard hair bands may not be worn.

FORMAT OF PLAY

Games will be played in accordance with Federation International Football Association (F.I.F.A.)  "LAWS OF THE GAME" as published by the United States Soccer Federation and modified by the U.S.Y.S.A. and S.Y.S.A. for youth players.

A player's age as of July 31st, 2006 will determine his/her age division:
